BURT TO ARGUE FOR FLOOD DEFENCES FOR TENBURY ON BBC POLITICS SHOW

Tenbury's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, Richard Burt will join Mary Dhonau, Chief Executive of the National Flood Forum in the town tomorrow to argue the case for permanent flood defences on the BBC's Politics Show, due to be broadcast this Sunday.
Mr Burt will put the case for government funding for the £5million scheme to provide permanent flood defences, and call for a National Emergency Plan to protect victims of repeat flooding.
Following the latest flooding in September Richard said:
"There are good prospects for other Worcestershire towns to get the flood defences they so desperately need, but Tenbury will not qualify for any cash under the Environment Agency's current assessments.
"The town centre has been hit by flooding three times in fifteen months. Home owners and businesses simply cannot cope with this kind of disruption and uncertainty. As soon as they get back on their feet they are flooded again.
"Government should treat this in the same way as any other civil disaster and make sure the money is in place to protect the town from future flooding."
